Local elections 2021: Mistakes caught amid record number of polls

A smattering of errors was reported amid a bumper crop of elections.

Darlington Council issued an apology after a printing mistake caused 370 duplicate postal votes to be sent out in error, Gosport BC was forced to send out replacement ballot papers to more than 10,000 postal voters after it was found they were not legally valid and printers hired by Malvern Hills DC sent it five packs of ballot papers intended for Pendle BC and Preston City Council.
