Parishes demand funding fairness from ministers

Parish and town council leaders have met government ministers this week to press their claim for a fair funding settlement for first-tier councils.

A delegation from the National Association for Local Councils (NALC) held talks with local government minister Kris Hopkins during the consultation on the local government finance settlement – a process which ends today.

NALC is lobbying against the imposition of council tax referendum triggers applying to ‘higher spending’ parish and town councils.
