Rogers: Trust option 'shouldn't be surprising'

A takeover of Birmingham City Council’s children’s services by a trust was always going to be considered as part of the authority’s three-year improvement plan, chief executive Mark Rogers has insisted.

Mr Rogers told The MJ the broadcast of a Dispatches programme this week, in which an experienced social worker goes undercover in Birmingham’s children’s services department, had forced the council to ‘prematurely announce’ a trust was being considered.
