Slough becomes second council to issue Section 114 in a year

By Dan Peters | 02 July 2021

Slough Council has become the second local authority in less than a year to issue a dreaded Section 114 notice.

The confirmation today of spending controls, which are expected to be needed until at least April, comes despite the council being granted a capitalisation direction for the current year worth £15.2m.

This still leaves the council facing an in-year deficit for 2021-22 of about £40m and a predicted negative general fund balance of £159m by the end of March 2025 without further action.
