We need to devise a plan to solve our communities' housing crisis

District councils need the Government to increase the housing benefit subsidy. Without this, local authorities increasingly cannot afford appropriate housing, says Cllr Sam Chapman-Allen.

Few issues loom as large in the concerns of district councils right now as homelessness.

Too many people are being priced out of our communities and district councils are stepping in at an unprecedented level to offer a lifeline to those who would otherwise face personal catastrophe.
