The Government has allocated £53m to create 200 new council-run placements for children deprived of their liberty, a minister announced today.

Speaking at the Association of Directors of Children's Services (ADCS) Conference in Manchester, children and families minister Janet Daby said the funding would ‘provide children who need this type of provision with a more home-like environment'.
