Warwickshire CC is one of 11 authorities selected for a radical pilot scheme to give children in care their own ‘virtual' school head. The two-year initiative, announced by minister for children, Beverley Hughes, aims to raise attainment by giving children in care access to either a former head teacher or a seconded senior teacher with experience of supporting vulnerable children. Cllr Izzi Seccombe, cabinet member for children's services, said: ‘Children in care can often suffer disruption in their education through no fault of their own.'
