Appointments to our senior management team:

Brent is a tremendously vibrant London borough where the iconic arch of Wembley Stadium dominates the skyline. Spanning both inner and outer London, it's a borough of stark contrasts in terms of its economic, environmental, ethnic and social make up. The Council is currently pursuing a far-reaching transformation agenda that better meets the needs of our community. It is also an integral part of our response to the increasing financial pressures on local government.We have restructured to create a leaner, more strategically focused senior management team who will help us accelerate progress.

The Council has started relocating from its current home to a brand new location, opposite Wembley Stadium. This move not only saves money but represents a fantastic opportunity to develop new ways of working, maximise the use of superb modern facilities and substantially reduce our carbon footprint. It will also ensure that our staff enjoy a much improved working environment and support the continued improvement that we are committed to delivering.

We are now seeking to make the following appointments to our senior management team:

Strategic Director - Education, Health & Social Care

A critically important role, taking responsibility for a wide range of people centred services. You are likely to be a successful Director of either Adult or Children's services energised by the prospect of creating a fi rst class service that is truly joined up and family centred.

Strategic Director - Governance & Corporate Services

Reporting to the Chief Executive, you will take responsibility for wide ranging and critical infrastructure including legal, procurement, Human Resources, ICT, democratic and business support services. You will Lead and develop strong partnership working with public sector partners, the voluntary and community sector and local business to maximise opportunities for innovative, efficient and effective service delivery. Your large scale leadership experience might have been gained in a variety of settings. What's important to us is your ability to drive forward major change initiatives, efficiency savings and service improvement developments.

Assistant Chief Executive

Working closely with the Chief Executive and senior politicians, you will build the Council's capacity to think and act innovatively and creatively. Taking responsibility for the development and delivery of the Council's corporate change programme, you will lead significant improvements to the quality and efficiency of the Council with a particular focus on the development of new models for service development, commissioning and delivery.

We're looking for an intellectually agile thinker, someone with experience of developing practical, innovative, creative and tactical solutions to the management of complex problems. We are happy to consider people from a wide range of different backgrounds, not just local government; those with proven ability to build relationships and create programmes of work that deliver tangible outcomes and improvements.

Chief Financial Officer

Reporting to the Chief Executive, you will be the lead adviser to the Council on all financial matters and it's section 151 officer. The financial challenges facing local government require an absolute focus on financial stewardship and you will support us in seizing opportunities and to help us make the right decisions when facing tough choices. We are looking for a track record of leadership in a large scale, customer centric organisation. You will be able to point to the difference you have made by driving forward major change initiatives, efficiency savings and service improvement projects.

Operational Director - Human Resources

The way we work in the future will have a huge bearing on our ability to deliver quality services to our customers. Your experience in driving sustainable organisational change is critical to our future success.

Operational Director - Housing and Employment

We face some of the most challenging and complex housing problems in London. In response we have totally transformed our housing service over the last 18 months and have a set of robust strategies that are now providing practical solutions to the challenges posed by the recession, Welfare Reform and a lack of affordable housing.

This role turns our strategy to help citizens secure sustainable, long term employment and housing opportunities into reality. You will be the Council's lead housing professional taking responsibility for housing needs and will be the key interface for our ALMO, Brent Housing Partnership. However, it's a broad remit that takes in housing, employment and adult education so we are looking for someone whose significant housing experience is complemented by a creative and entrepreneurial approach.
