WORKFORCE

Assistant Director, Children's Services Operations

Central Bedfordshire

Up to £98,000

Central Bedfordshire is home to around a quarter of a million people and growing fast. Within the next decade we expect another 30,000 people will be enjoying our quality of life, strong connectivity to London and high quality jobs created through economic growth. The council was formed in 2009 and has enjoyed rising resident satisfaction levels year on year. Strong and stable political leadership enables us to focus on our residents' long term priorities. Protecting children and educational outcomes are in our Council's top priorities and elected members have supported this with increased funding each year. This role is part of a small senior team leading Children's Services and covers all aspects of social care and early intervention.

We have been encouraged by the results of recent inspections and are proud of the innovative work being done across the council which is gaining national recognition. However there is still much to improve upon, particularly around children's health outcomes. As one of two Assistant Directors reporting to the Deputy Chief Executive & Director of Children's Services this is a considerable leadership challenge. It represents the opportunity to gain significant operational and strategic experience in a local authority that has high ambitions and an ideal role for those aspiring to be successful Directors of Children's Services of the future.
