A third Lincolnshire council has called for the county to be split into two unitaries under reorganisation – one representing the north and another the south.

Boston BC has backed South Holland and East Lindsey DCs' proposal to create a northern Lincolnshire unitary, under which current unitaries North Lincolnshire and North East Lincolnshire would expand to cover the areas currently served by Lincoln City Council and West Lindsey DC. This would have a population of 531,000 in line with the Government's initial aim of each new authority representing around 500,000 people.
