Central Services Manager

Salary Band 14: £42,967 – £45,617

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Manager to support the Head of Central Services in the management and development of a small team to provide the Council with a full range of corporate services including Finance, Property, Legal and Procurement. The post will act as the Deputy Section 151 officer and provides an opportunity for an experienced finance professional to extend their experience into other corporate services.

You will need to be CCAB qualified or equivalent and with extensive experience in financial reporting, internal control, financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting and accounting with 3 years senior experience in a local government accountancy environment.

We are looking for someone who has the ability to think creatively in order to contribute to innovative projects and initiatives that support our strategic priorities.

An excellent communicator is required at both operational and senior levels, and in particular, someone who can explain complex financial models to non-financial managers. The successful candidate will have the ability to set and achieve objectives to tight and demanding deadlines, coupled with a strong analytical ability.

Melton Mowbray is easily accessible lying 18 miles from Nottingham, and 15 miles from both Leicester and Grantham with an excellent road and rail network. Melton Borough Council operates from a modern building close to the town centre and railway station and has adopted modern flexible working practices.
