Chief Executive and Director of Economy - Birmingham City Council

Chief Executive and Director of Economy - Birmingham City Council

Salary: £180,000+ with relocation package.

In this pivotal role, you will be at the forefront of unparalleled change and renewal. You will spearhead the transformation of Europe's largest local authority, while driving the revitalisation of the UK's second biggest city.

From day one, you will make a positive difference for over one million residents. And you will build a legacy of opportunity and growth for generations to come.

This is, quite simply, the most significant role in local government.

Under your leadership, the newly formed directorates of People, Place and Economy will help improve critical services and in particular supporting those safeguarding our children.

At the same time you will drive new approaches to delivering other key services, enabling them to maintain their integrity and value in a time of dramatically reducing budgets.

Along with your role as Director of Economy, we will look to you to connect Birmingham, its businesses and its people beyond the city.

You will be instrumental in making Birmingham a truly entrepreneurial and inclusive city.

To be equal to our challenges, you will need impressive credentials including a track record of success within a major organisation. You will need to have an exceptional talent for forging links and fostering opportunities.

Politically sensitive and commercially astute, you will have the opportunity to create meaningful change.

For an informal discussion or for more information, please contact either Roxana Abbasi, our advisor to Birmingham City Council, on DD: 0207 884 3397/Mobile: 0787 645 1040, or Tarik Chawdry, Assistant Director from Birmingham City Council HR, on DD: 0121 303 4970/ Mobile: 07738 713 826.

Closing date: Midday Monday, 25th November, 2013. To find out more and apply, visit http://birminghamtopjob.co.uk/
