Chief Executive - Isle of Scilly Council

up to £100,000

Chief Executive - up to £100,000

A unique environment.

A unique challenge.

The Council of the Isles of Scilly is England's smallest unitary authority, yet it delivers the widest range of services of any council in the country. It serves a population of just over 2,000 residents based on five islands located 27 miles south west from mainland Britain.

This unique environment creates unique challenges and the Council is looking for a new Chief Executive to help it secure a strong and sustainable future.

By providing services as diverse as education, adult social care, water and sewerage as well as running the country's 10th busiest regional airport, the Council is at the very heart of community life. Geography has a major impact on the provision of services and promoting economic vitality is carefully balanced with preserving the outstanding natural environment.

The Council has started a modernisation programme to ensure it is well placed to meet the challenges of the future and the new Chief Executive will continue this journey. Politically astute, you will understand the complexities inherent in island life as well as the nature of an outstanding opportunity to lead a truly unique and diverse organisation.
