WORKFORCE

Chief Operating Officer

Cardiff is a dynamic, innovative and forward-looking city with an impressive and strong background of achievement. Home to the National Assembly for Wales, we are creating a city of national significance and European Capital status where people want to live, work and visit and one in which companies choose to invest.

We are committed to improving the quality of life of our citizens, communities and customers and ensuring the highest quality of service provision. This is our vision – you'll drive it forward, working closely with senior colleagues to actively develop the values and strategic objectives of the organisation as a whole, whilst leading, motivating and inspiring others.

Reporting to the Chief Executive, you will provide strategic leadership, vision and direction to the Council's day to day operational services. You will be at the heart of the Council's drive to refocus our energies on managing and measuring what matters and making a difference through the services we provide to the people we serve.

In addition, your vision and talent will be crucial to developing creative and pioneering approaches with all other public service partners to both improve outcomes for the people of Cardiff and deliver value for money.

This is a major role for someone with significant experience of designing and delivering a broad range of operational services. We are less interested in the specific services you have previously led but will require you to demonstrate that you possess the leadership, partnership and management skills to make a major contribution to Cardiff's success as a European Capital City.

Application Form and Recruitment Pack available from our website. For a confidential discussion contact: Jon Houlihan of Gatenby Sanderson on 07736821079.
