Here at Luton we want to ensure that the future holds the best for every child and young person – and if you think you can help us deliver that we want to hear from you.

In many parts of the country, traditional school improvement services are being cut back to a minimum. However, we are dealing with change in a different way. Rather than reduce and retrench, we are developing the service we provide for schools and our aim is to be the provider of choice.

Luton is in the minority of local authorities in which Children's Services are judged by Ofsted to be performing excellently in the last APA; schools and other settings have made a very significant contribution in getting us to this position. Based on strong relationships, effective partnerships and joint endeavour, we firmly believe that the services that make up our Support, Challenge and Intervention offer have a unique and important part to play in driving up standards.

We are therefore looking for experienced candidates with a strong track record within school improvement at a senior level,(not necessarily in a local authority environment) with the ability to form strong relationships with schools and partners, as well as having an entrepreneurial and flexible approach to lead our traded services offering. It is a challenging time for the sector, and we are under no illusions, but it is also a time for seizing opportunities and innovative approaches.
