WORKFORCE

Commercial Partnership Manager

Do you have the expertise to take charge of a brand new £320m contract?

At the London Borough of Barnet, we believe in making changes that will bring positive results. Our goal is to serve our community to the best of our ability and we place the people of Barnet at the heart of everything we do. Establishing better ways of working is important, but it's the impact they have on our borough that's paramount. We're undertaking a major transformation to bring commissioning to the heart of what we do.

You'll play a key role in our Commissioning Group, managing our largest and newest 10-year strategic contract, valued at over £320m. After setting up the new contract partnership and governance arrangements, you'll manage the relationship with our new partners on a day-to-day basis. It means monitoring performance; managing the payment process; leading partnership governance; and initiating any remedial activity that's required. You'll also be expected to support cross-departmental working and future commissioning developments, as a senior member of the commissioning team.

This specialist position calls for extensive knowledge of commercial contracting in complex situations. You should be aware of Public Procurement Law and Contract Law (including EU regulations) as well as best practice contract management principles. You'll also be adept at negotiating new contracts and changes to standard terms and conditions. Your expertise will be based on a degree (or equivalent), preferably in a commercial, contracts or procurement discipline. A recognised management qualification would be ideal (but isn't essential). What's more important is your ability to operate at a senior level in a political environment. You should understand different perspectives and feel comfortable taking a cross-organisational view.

Closing date: 23 November 2012.
