£47,550 - £50,913 pa

Barnet Council is entering a year of transformation. Through its One Barnet programme, the way services are delivered is changing, whether through partnerships with the private sector or through new and innovative operating models.

Based within the Commissioning Group, the Commissioning and Policy Advisor roles are key analytical and policy development posts at the heart of the organisation, providing key policy advice to senior officers and elected Members across the organisation.

These roles are expected to ‘horizon scan' and shape new policy direction for the organisation, specifically relating to public health, responding and interpreting central government policy changes, sharing best practice with other authorities, the private sector and the voluntary and community sector, and develop solutions to cross-cutting policy challenges.

With extensive knowledge of policy development and implementation and a proven track record of developing solutions to complex policy challenges, postholders will also have the ability to articulate policy direction to a variety or audiences both within and outside of the organisation.

Postholders will need experience of working in a political environment and have knowledge of government policies and legislation affecting future integration and commissioning of local services including the Health and Social Care Act.
