Consensus emerges over statutory climate change duty

A ‘clear consensus’ has emerged among councils for the sector to be subject to a statutory climate change duty, the Local Government Association (LGA) has said.

A ‘clear consensus' has emerged among councils for the sector to be subject to a statutory climate change duty, the Local Government Association (LGA) has said. 

An LGA survey of 150 councils found that a duty to mitigate and adapt to climate change was among the most frequently cited actions needed to bolster local authorities' environmental work.
