PUBLIC SECTOR REFORM

Places: a call for more coterminosity

Catherine Howe asks: What if, instead of tussles over public sector reform between places and Whitehall, 'we work iteratively and together across place and the centre?'

We have been absorbing the Government's White Paper for children's services. Lots to think about (and much to like).

I was drawn to the different ways in which the paper talks about place – regional improvement for standards and excellence teams with a slightly undefined geography, schools trusts which seem to have the intention of clustering schools with the emphasis on schools as an anchor in communities and then regional care co-operatives that may just be a slightly different footprint again.
