Newcastle-under-Lyme BC has sought assurances amid fears its residents could be exposed to ‘unfair' debts inherited by North Staffordshire Council following reorganisation.

Finance cabinet member Cllr Graham Shaw has presented Stoke-on-Trent City Council with a list of written questions about its debts and Government support as his authority prepares to join with Staffordshire Moorlands DC to form the unitary authority.
