More than a quarter of council workers leave work at the end of the day feeling ‘mentally exhausted', a survey has found.

Commercial Services Group, which carried out the survey, said local authority employees were ‘operating under sustained pressure' amid ‘staffing and resources shortages'. It found that more than half of council workers said their teams were short staffed, with one in five saying this often created stress. One in five also said they often thought about quitting ‘due to stress or pressure'.
