Escalating demand and costs for children's services are heaping pressure on council budgets as more local authorities warned of in-year overspends.
Sefton MBC's £7.7m in-year overspend is a result of a ‘significant worsening of the position relating to children's social care accommodation costs, as well as the impact of the potential local government pay award'.
