County urged to be charitable

The National Association for Voluntary and Community Action chief executive calls on Nottinghamshire CC to rethink its budget cuts.

The National Association for Voluntary and Community Action chief executive Joe Irvin has called on Nottinghamshire CC to rethink its budget cuts, and accused it of adopting a ‘cavalier attitude' to local charities.

Mr Irvin said plans for a 34% reduction in support for local voluntary groups had ‘cocked a snoop' at guidance and advice from communities secretary Eric Pickles, charities, and the Local Government Association.
