Windsor & Maidenhead has invested £1.8m in its first home for young people, dramatically cutting reliance on costly external placements, says Stephen Evans.

The cost of residential care for young people in England has nearly doubled in the last five years, creating one of the biggest areas of financial pressure for councils across the country. There is no doubt that the care market is in critical need of reform.

At Windsor & Maidenhead we are focused on ensuring the right care is in place at the right time. This is care that is appropriate, suitable and delivered with compassion and keeps young people as close as possible to their wider support networks.
