Director General for Localism

The Department for Communities and Local Government is seeking a strong and dynamic leader to take forward the development and delivery of key policy areas in the Government's agenda to drive economic growth and aspiration in local communities.

This is one of the best jobs in Government with a wide range of responsibilities including local government policy, which accounts for a quarter of public spending. It is pre-eminently a leadership role in the Department and more widely.

The successful candidate will be part of a strong leadership team, ensuring the Department works as one to deliver its vision and lives its values. You will work with Ministers to set the Department's strategic direction and policy priorities, and take responsibility for major strategic challenges and for performance development.
