Director of Public Health

Hull City Council is seeking to appoint an exceptional Director of Public Health who will be a valued member of the Council's Corporate Strategic Team, provide strategic direction for a range of supporting Council services, and will be accountable for all statutory public health functions. This post will have been newly transferred from the NHS and as such allows the successful appointee the opportunity to apply creativity and innovation to the provision of health services for a population of over 256,000 in Hull.

You will be a proactive and visionary transformational leader, shaping the strategic decisions affecting the health of the city and local community, aiming to improve health and well-being outcomes for the people of Hull so that Public Health is incorporated into everyday life.

Your focus will be to create and build healthy communities as well as healthy people.

We expect you to have the skills and sensitivity to deliver through partnership working with voluntary agencies, public health teams, health services and clinical commissioning groups; and within a political environment. The post will play a key role on Hull's Health and Wellbeing Board.

You will be an experienced and appropriately qualifi ed Public Health professional, already working at a senior level in a similar health/local authority or delivering to the public sector, and will have a clear vision of success, a passion for signifi cant challenges and a track record of delivering lasting results within a public sector environment.
