Director of Resources (Canterbury City Council)

Deliver a sustainable future for us.

Canterbury City Council is a high-performing authority with an enviable track record of providing excellent services for its residents.

Having recently undertaken a restructure of our Senior Management Team, we are ready to embark on the next phase of our development, and this is where you come in!

As Director of Resources you will be at the heart of delivering improvements in everything that we do. Critical to your success will be making sure that we find innovative and sustainable ways to continue to deliver valued services in the context of a significant reduction in our resource base over future years.

You will be the council's Section 151 Officer and will personally lead on finance and a range of corporate support functions, including revenues, procurement, property, human resources and facilities. You will also play a leading role in the development of our active capital programme which has recently celebrated the successful opening of the Marlowe Theatre.

A truly corporate role; your influence will extend right across our organisation and beyond. You will be an integral part of our Senior Management Team and will report directly to our Chief Executive.

An impact driven and professionally qualified CCAB Accountant, you are likely to be a current Director of Resources, or a high-performing Head of Finance, who is ready to step up.

Your expertise in local authority finance and your understanding of the wider constraints within which local government finds itself will be unquestioned, as will your track record of thinking ‘outside the box', in identifying solutions to complex resourcing needs.

To deliver a sustainable future for us, please visit our site here or call our retained consultant, Darren Meeks on 07545 124 068 for an informal conversation.

Closing date for applications: 5pm Monday 31 October 2011.
