A commercially dynamic city, York is driven by a forward thinking authority that is dedicated to building on a proud heritage and realising ambitious plans for the future. City of York Council are recruiting for two vital leadership roles that will help ensure the delivery of these objectives.

This is a vital role for City of York, providing strategic leadership, ambition and driving cultural change across the authority. You will secure the spatial and transport conditions that ensure York's growth continues, building on our position as the strongest economy in the North.

You will provide ambition, dynamism and radical new thinking, developing partnerships and creating new relationships that promote York as a city open for business. You will also lead a strategic review and transformation of our waste, fleet and highways services in your first year.

York is known for its commitment to the sustainability agenda and we will expect you to reflect this in everything you do.

An entrepreneurial and driven leader bringing high energy levels as well as outstanding influencing skills and political acumen, your ability to challenge the norm and deliver outcomes will be essential. Director of Public Health and Wellbeing

NHS Consultant Salary £74,504 to £100,446 Agenda for Change Band 9 £77,079 to £97,478

This is your opportunity to shape and drive improvement in the health and wellbeing of the residents and communities of York.

You will have lead responsibility for promoting and protecting health and wellbeing, tackling health inequalities and improving health care quality. Working across City of York Council and the NHS, you will address wider key issues in ensuring the health of the population, such as healthy lifestyles, disease control and preventative health services.

We are looking for a transformational and visionary leader, with experience of partnership working and a proven track record on health improvement and reduction of inequalities. You will need to demonstrate high levels of political awareness and be capable of working to different organisational cultures and to plan and implement successful health programmes.
