WORKFORCE

Director

This is an opportunity to lead a new organisation that will drive up school achievement across five south-east Wales authorities. Blaenau Gwent CBC, Caerphilly CBC, Monmouthshire CC, Newport City Council and Torfaen CBC.

The new integrated service will prioritise all elements of improvement including standards, monitoring, support and challenge. The reality of educational outcomes in Wales is that too much of what we provide does not compare with the best attained within the UK let alone internationally.

Your role will be to refine, grow and deliver the vision designed to change that. With the commitment and support of the partner authorities, you will ensure the development of the service as a successful, respected and influential organisation.

Bringing a sense of urgency and a passion for change, you will lead the transition of services and resources from the five host councils into one new organisation, securing improved standards of education and pupil outcomes across the schools in the region. We need to move further and faster than we could without this integrated service.

We are looking for someone who understands and can manage change, has the ability to work with partners, has strong leadership skills, is dynamic and can work within a complex political environment.

If you think you have what it takes to bring about dramatic transformation – the imagination, leadership credentials and drive – then we have the challenge for you.

Further information and how to apply can be found at this link. For an informal and confidential discussion, contact our retained consultants Jon Houlihan or Martin Tucker on 0121 644 5700.

Closing date: Sunday 4th March 2012.
