I have been reflecting upon the National Audit Office's recent education-related outputs, covering subjects such as the condition of school buildings, student finance, early years entitlements, educational outcomes for disadvantaged pupils, special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) and the teaching workforce.

In all cases, things weren't working as well as intended to meet pupil need. At the time of writing I am working on two further outputs, on home-to-school transport and planning for school places and, without prejudicing findings, no-one would be surprised at similar outcomes.
