Abdool Kara says tfor housing associations and local authorities that own stock, the announcement of a 10-year commitment to a rent regime of the Consumer Price Index plus 1%, giving certainty of revenue income, is at least as important as money for newbuilds.
Many were pleased to see the allocation in the recent Spending Review of £39bn in capital funding over the next decade for new social housing.
There was somewhat less coverage of the Government's 10-year commitment – at least for the duration of this Parliament – to a rent regime of the Consumer Price Index plus 1%.
