Political pollsters and pundits are forecasting a changing of the guard in the local government landscape come the spring, with support for the traditional heavyweights of Labour and Conservatives flagging.

Reform UK is targeting London boroughs, while the Liberal Democrats and Greens, buoyed by last week's by-election victory, will be eyeing gains in the shires.
