Emergency shelter and evacuation plans may be insufficient in a worst-case scenario crisis, Local Resilience Forums (LRF) have admitted in a Government survey.
More than two out of three (68%) LRFs indicated they had concerns over the capacity of shelter arrangements, with a ‘high dependence' on the voluntary community sector. Recurring concerns included a lack of reliable staff needed to support an emergency response and ‘unreliable' contracts with private sector firms providing accommodation.
