The amount of money spent by councils in the capital on the most expensive type of emergency temporary accommodation (TA) almost doubled in a year, figures shared with The MJ have revealed.

London Councils said expenditure on nightly paid, privately managed, self-contained accommodation went from £449m in 2023-24 to £862m in 2024-25 as boroughs desperately tried to reduce the use of bed and breakfast (B&B) accommodation.
