Executive Director – Corporate Services

After a journey of change West Dunbartonshire Council is making good progress on its strategic priorities and has established a healthy financial position. Substantial regeneration and investment are transforming the local area, from the banks of the Clyde to the shores of Loch Lomond, and helping to address social, economic and environmental challenges.

Supporting Elected Members and our new Chief Executive, you will be a key member of the Corporate Management Team at the heart of transforming and delivering improvements in everything we do. You will lead and manage a wide range of corporate support functions: finance, ICT, procurement, human resources, organisational development, legal, democratic and regulatory services and will play a critical role in making sure we manage, improve and use our resources cost effectively and in sustainable ways.

This is a particularly challenging time for the public sector, and we need someone who can drive organisational change to create a culture that is responsive to innovation and improvement to services.

You will need to demonstrate experience of working at a senior level in a strategic management role, astute political awareness, and comprehensive understanding of the role of local government.

You will be expected to establish effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, and excellent communication, negotiation and influencing skills will be vital.

To find out more about the role and how to apply please visit our microsite. Alternatively you can contact Tricia O'Neill, Head of Human Resources and Organisational Development on 01389 737584.

Closing date: 11th November 2011.
