Councils could face a fresh wave of equal pay litigation under Whitehall reforms as HR cuts make it harder for councils to defend claims.
In a response to a consultation, which closed last week, the Local Government Association (LGA) warned that plans to extend equal pay rights to ethnic minority and disabled workers would ‘open up the scope for claims, as it would provide new types of claims'.
