A public finance expert has suggested local government should consider ‘bending the rules' to solve some of the problems ‘coming down the road' for the sector.
Speaking at The MJ's Future Forum Midlands in Stratford-upon-Avon Iain Murray, director of public financial management for the Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy (CIPFA), argued the Government was bending its financial rules and councils could benefit from a similar freedom.
