Every week, millions of people across the UK struggle with clunky council websites, multiple login passwords, and services that feel like they belong to a different era. Whether you're applying for a school place, booking a bulky waste collection, or checking your council tax account, it shouldn't feel like hard work when most citizens interact with digital services in their everyday lives that enhance their experience like banking or entertainment.

As minister for digital government, I'm determined to change this. That's why we're establishing GDS Local – to ensure that accessing your local services is as straightforward as it should be, wherever you live in the UK. Solutions designed in collaboration, built for use, and available to all.
