Group Planning Manager- Southend on Sea borough council

Group Planning Manager, Development Control, and Building Control.

In 2012 the Council was voted Council of the Year and are proud that the Planning Service is one of the highest performing service areas within the Council.

Southend is a predominantly urban borough and we already have a solid track record of working in partnership to attract inward investment and high quality public realm improvements.

An exciting opportunity has now arisen to join this service due to the internal promotion of our current postholder. Reporting into the Head of Planning and Transportation, you will continue this work, leading on an interesting range of major planning applications and development schemes.

You will, possess a strong understanding of the planning process and have a current working knowledge of planning legislation and development. You will also possess good leadership skills to lead, inspire and motivate a team of 19 staff and further drive performance improvement and effi ciency.

You will be robust and highly reliable, be able to work independently and exercise sound judgment. You will also be able to foster good working relationships with other departments within the Council, other Councils and elected members.

RTPI membership is highly desirable.
