Head of Finance - Newport City Council

Head of Finance - Newport City Council

(Section 151 Officer)

As the eighth largest local authority in Wales, Newport City Council is committed to delivering public services that its population can be proud of.

The council is facing an unprecedented financial challenge and as a result we have to significantly reduce our budget yet at the same time address an increasing demand for our services.

It is important that we have an organisation that has a clear purpose and our mission,'Improving people's lives - providing the best affordable services', has to be central to everything that we do.

The role of Head of Finance will be key to meeting these challenges. Reporting to the Chief Executive, you will play a vital role in maintaining the quality and sustainability of the council's services, as well as advising the senior leadership team on all finance-related matters.

Implementing new service delivery models, improvements and efficiencies, you will ensure sound financial arrangements across the council.

Closing date: 6 December 2013
