WORKFORCE

Head of Planning

Tendring is already a high profile Council, with an enviable record of achievement. Excellent relationships with outside organisations, and growing partnerships with busninesses throughout the world, are helping us to address the diverse needs of the community and provide a safe and attractive place to live.

This is a transitional and exciting time for us. Tendring is re-shaping into a vibrant, affluent area, where residents and visitors can enjoy a quality experience, and we are now looking for a creative, innovative Planning professional who will enjoy our new approach and who can play a major role in proactively shaping planning within the district.

This is a great time to join our team. We have recently restructured the Planning service and have created a customer friendly environment - one that listens to the needs and opinions of our community.

Supporting the Chief Executive, as part of the Management Team, you will develop and deliver our corporate vision, values and priorities, utilising your skills and knowledge to achieve results.

Taking responsibility for service development and delivery across all Planning sections - Planning Policy, Planning Development and Building Control, you will be a natural leader, empowering the team to continually improve and develop services and establish a culture of performance management and high standard levels.

You will lead this key service, sharing your knowledge and expertise to gain the support of your team and colleagues. You will achieve results and be a champion for our customers and stakeholders to make sure we get things right.

Tendring is facing some immediate and very exciting challenges; not only is the Council at a critical stage in preparing its new Local Plan, it is also heavily involved in some of the biggest planning projects in the area's history. These include regenerating Jaywick, the most deprived area of the country, doubling the size of Harwich's International Port and a proposal associated with the restoration of the historic St.Osyth Priory.

Above all, you will have a successful track record of achieving results in a similar environment and the vision and determination to make a real difference to the lives of our community.
