Minister for children, young people and families, Beverley Hughes, has pledged to see children in care placed near to their home local authority. ‘The outcomes of children placed out of borough are potentially worse than the outcomes for children in care generally, and we have just got to stop it happening,' she said. Ms Hughes said she wanted it to be made ‘exceptional' for a child to be placed out of area in a bid to stop children getting ‘lost'.
