Local government recognised in Queen's Birthday Honours List

Council leaders and staff have been recognised in the 2020 Queen’s Birthday Honours List for their services to local government.

Former chairman of the County Councils' Network and leader of Kent CC, Paul Carter, was awarded a knighthood.

OBEs were awarded to strategic director of people at Salford City Council, Charlotte Ramsden, and executive member for culture, leisure and skills at Manchester City Council, Luthfur Rahman.

Former chief executive of Norwich City Council, Laura McGillivray, was given a MBE for services to local government.

The leader of Merton LBC, Cllr Stephen Alambritis, was awarded an MBE for services to local government while the leader of Blackburn with Darwen Council, Cllr Mohammed Khan, was awarded a CBE for his contribution to the sector over the past 28 years. 

Cllr Andrew Gravells, cabinet member for planning and housing strategy at Gloucester City Council, was awarded an MBE for political and public service.
