Manchester City Council is to implement Martyn's Law to improve security at all public venues.
Named after Martyn Hett - one of the people killed when a terrorist bomb went off at Manchester Arena – the policy will change how the council licenses venues, including ensuring venues have a counter-terrorism plan in place and train staff on counter-terrorism measures.
Deputy council leader, Cllr Nigel Murphy, called for further action, adding: ‘We need the Government to take action.
'Only they have the power to get Martyn's Law onto the statute books.
‘We can never bring back those who were cruelly taken from us, but, by making small yet significant changes we may be able to prevent future loss of life.'
