Manchester City Council is to pay out more than £2m in compensation to a group of 168 victims of alleged sexual and physical abuse at children's homes. Operation Cleopatra, a police investigation between 1997 and 2002, investigated allegations of abuse at 66 children's homes which led to several prosecutions. The Manchester Children's Home Abuse Group which was set up in 2000, was formally dissolved after a high court ordered the council to make compensation payments.
