A senior Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG) official has praised the improved capability of councils to deliver major housing projects compared to 2017.
The department's co-director for new towns, infrastructure and housing delivery Cathy Francis told members of the House of Commons' Public Accounts Committee that the ‘maturity of local authorities has improved significantly' since the department began allocating £10.5bn in funding to unlock land for housing a decade ago.
