Cabinet Office minister, Francis Maude, has appointed a team of Whitehall procurement experts to negotiate major deals across all departments.

The new ‘Crown representatives' have been charged with ensuring the Government acts as a single customer when dealing with suppliers which, until now, have often negotiated vastly-different contracts for the same services with different departments.
