ECONOMIC GROWTH

The international rules-based order is currently crashing into the ground like so many downed drones across the Middle East. This is seeding the very real fear of an imminent economic recession, one fuelled by inflationary energy costs and global instability. All of this is taking place against a backdrop of alarming UK diplomatic and military weakness and the fevered reporting of No10 court politics.

From all the froth of the latter, the startlingly candid admission from health secretary Wes Streeting's self-disclosed WhatsApp messages with disgraced Labour grandee Lord Mandelson, that the Government is without a growth strategy, has not perhaps garnered the attention it deserves.
