North and West Northamptonshire councils will align under a strategic authority should their preferred option of joining a larger South Midlands organisation continue to falter. 

Both Reform UK-led councils, which were formed as separate unitary authorities five years ago after Northamptonshire CC was abolished, would like to link up with Bedford, Luton and Milton Keynes councils to former to form a wider regional strategic authority.
