'Outstanding' children's result

Regulator, Ofsted, has rated Plymouth City Council's children's services 'outstanding'.

Regulator, Ofsted, has rated Plymouth City Council's children's services ‘outstanding' – capping a dramatic six-year turnaround in the performance of the authority's social services.

By 2005, the council had achieved three consecutive ‘zero' ratings. Outgoing director of services for children and young people, Bronwen Lacey, who was appointed to oversee improvements and will leave in February after 37 years in local government education, said the transformation ‘has been a really testing and truly incredible journey that I'll never forget'.
